Do you have the correct multi point door locks?

When searching for the most competitive home insurance quotation most people spend time comparing insurance companies governed by the end premium and do not take time to consider the final questions about whether their existing multi point door locks meet safety standards!

Unless the householder is living in a newly built premises where the locks have been stipulated by the developer as being compliant with British Safety standards at the outset, many home owners are unaware of the type of multi point door locks they have fitted to many of their doors. They presume they conform so as a consequence they skirt over the question.

Requirements vary between insurance companies, some will simply charge an extra 5 percent  if you do not have the locks installed, others will state something along the lines of  “You must have a 'five-lever mortice lock' conforming to BS3621 on all exit doors and key-operated locks on all ground floor and accessible windows”.

If your multi point door locks do not meet the safety standards your insurance company have specified on your policy you may not be covered if you find your self needing to make an insurance claim.
